In Over My Head by Bethel Music’s Jenn Johnson

God has such a way with His timing.  This video was just released on Facebook yesterday (the album actually doesn’t come out until 1/26/15), but this song just had me bursting with joy.  These themes of letting go of control have been burning on my heart for the last week and even made it into several of my poems (some of which you’ll see on this blog very soon).  This beautiful song captures exactly how I’ve been feeling in this season: To get what my soul has been longing for, I need to go past the place where I am in control.  In.  Over my head.

God has also been revealing to me boxes I’ve put him in that weren’t there when we started this journey together 12 years ago.  Most of all, I loved the lyric “Whether I sink, whether I swim, It makes no difference when I’m beautifully in over my head”  As I’ve been also trying to lay down the spirit of perfection, this lyric perfectly describes how it feels to be floating in God’s love and acceptance.  The worries of success and failure just melt away.  He’ll make good of whatever comes!  I hope you enjoy the song as much as I did.
